LCUSD#9 Families,

As a reminder, there is no school on Friday, March 14th, as that day was set aside on this year’s school calendar as an end of the third quarter Teachers’ Institute Day. We are officially in the final week of the third grading period. Please help us by reminding your student(s) of the importance of regular daily attendance and work completion. When students do not attend school, they miss out on valuable time with teachers and classmates. The best way to stay caught up academically is to attend school regularly and complete daily assignments. Let’s work together to encourage all of our Greyhounds to finish the third quarter on a positive note.

Annual State Assessments - Beginning later this month and going into the first half of April, we will be administering our annual state assessments. These state tests are an opportunity for our students to showcase both personal growth and their proficiency with their grade level curricular content. Did you know that last year Lebanon students performed above the state average proficiency in all three areas (ELA, Math, and Science)? Lebanon students met or exceeded state proficiency standards at the following rates in 2024:

  • ELA - 47.5% (State Avg. 39.4% in ELA)

  • Math - 30.2% (State Avg. 27.9% in Math - We were below the state avg in 2022 & 2023.)

  • Science - 70.8% (State Avg. 52.7% in Science)

We are looking forward to seeing what our Greyhounds can do during the 2025 testing season, because we know they are ready to rock these tests! 2025 State Testing Reminder Graphic

5 Essentials Survey Reminder (Parent Input) - The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is currently underway for both students and teachers. The Parent Survey is also being conducted during that same timeframe, with a closing date of March 28, 2025. To take the survey please visit: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ (Feb. 18, 2025 through March 28, 2025).

*Please note that because we only have two physical school buildings parents of junior high school students will want to select Lebanon High School. Also, any parents with students in both buildings are encouraged to take the survey twice (once for each building). We need at least 20% of parents to respond to the survey in order for us to receive the feedback. We are currently sitting at 14% for LES and only 7% for LJHS/LHS. Thank you for your cooperation, partnership, and feedback, as we look forward to learning how we can better serve the students in our community!
