Lebanon Community Unit School District #9 is accepting applications for a Cafeteria Worker for the 2026–2027 School Year. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking individual who enjoys working in a school environment and is committed to providing excellent service to our students and staff.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Food service experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet district employment requirements.

Position Details
Position: Cafeteria Worker
School Year: 2026–2027
Schedule: 7 hours a day/5 days a week/175 day for the year
Location: Lebanon Community Unit School District #9
Start Date: August 2026 (or as assigned)
Pay rate: $16/hr

What is a Paraprofessional?

A paraprofessional is a specially trained and certified educational worker who helps teachers and students in the classroom. They provide instructional support to teachers and students, helping them understand and learn different subjects like math, science, English, and social studies.

Paraprofessionals are a valuable part of the education process. They help to ensure that instruction is efficient and effective by providing support in several ways. Their main responsibilities involve assisting with instruction, providing support during testing, working with students with special needs, managing classrooms, and generally bringing positive energy into the learning environment.

Paraprofessionals may also help with other tasks such as grading papers, preparing materials for lessons, supervising students during lunch or recess, or providing guidance to students who need extra help. They are an important part of the school’s staff and play an essential role in helping create a safe learning environment for all students.

Reminder that tryouts will begin tomorrow for jh baseball and jh softball. Jh baseball will begin at 3:45 on the high school baseball diamond and will end at 6:00, jh softball will start at 6:30 on the high school softball diamond and end at 8:00. We ask that players show up early to meet with the Athletic Director to make sure that they have a current valid athletic physical, athletic paperwork completed in the school registration packet and have paid the $50 sports fee. If any of these 3 things are not completed, the athlete cannot tryout until they are completed. The sports fee can be paid online on the myschoolbucks app or it can be paid at the first practice. Before doing so, it is important to make sure that registration is complete. Please take a moment to sign into your PowerSchool account and make sure all your forms are submitted & approved (with the exception of Forms J and Z).

Please note that students will ONLY be assigned if registration is complete.

We hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. This email is for anyone who has student/athletes in grades 5th-12th. This is a reminder as we start heading towards the start of school and fall athletics to make sure your athlete has an up to date physical and that you have their athletic paperwork filled out on the online school registration for the upcoming school year. 5th-8th grade students are eligible to come out for baseball and softball. Also reminding everyone that if your athlete is going to play junior high baseball or junior high softball that we have our parent, player coach meeting next Tuesday July 14th at 6:30 in the high school gym. JH athletic fee($50) can be paid at the meeting or online on the myschoolbucks app. The athletic director will go over information about the upcoming school year and season and then the coaches will talk to parents about the upcoming season, expectations and rules for playing on their team this year. The 1st day of practice will be on Monday July 20th, times will be announced at the meeting.
We will have our high school parent, player, coach meeting on Tuesday Aug 4th at 6:30 in the high school gym for Junior High Cross Country/High School Cross Country, Volleyball and Boys Soccer. This meeting will follow the same format as the junior high meeting. Sign up deadline for the NMSQT test is October 1! The PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the largest academic recognition programs in the U.S. High school juniors can earn recognition as Commended Student, Semifinalist, or Finalist, which can lead to scholarships.

The test is $20 for junior students interested. Sign up in the office!

JH Softball Open Field!! We will start having open fields next Wednesday and Thursday, June 24th and 25th from 6:30-8:00 at the high school softball diamond. Any girls entering 5th thru 8th grades interested in trying out for softball are welcome to attend. These are not mandatory.
