Good Morning Lebanon!
Today is Monday, January 11th, 2021
Interesting fact: Martin Luther King, Jr. narrowly escaped an assassination attempt a decade before his death. On September 20, 1958, King was in Harlem signing copies of his new book, when he was stabbed with a letter opener. After hours of intense operation surgeons told King that just one sneeze could have punctured the aorta and killed him.

WELCOME BACK! We hope you had a safe and happy holiday break.
Fun fact: Martin Luther King Jr. was imprisoned nearly 30 times.
According to the King Center, the civil rights leader went to jail 29 times. He was arrested for acts of civil disobedience and on trumped-up charges, such as when he was jailed in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1956 for driving 30 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone.

Good morning LHS. This is a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to make schedule changes. Please remember students must have a written note or an email to make the changes. Phone calls are not permitted. Also, preregistration will start soon. Start thinking about the classes you want next year.
Hello. Just a friendly reminder that meal pick up is today until 11:00am at LHS and LES. We will also have a meal pick up at Summerfield Firehouse from 9:00-10:00am. As a reminder, meals are FREE for all students including regular pay and reduced pay. Please take advantage of this FREE meal program. Make it a great day!
Parents/Guardians,
In an attempt to organize and accelerate the pick-up process after school each day, I would like to gather some information from you all. If your child will be a REGULAR parent pick-up in the afternoons, you will be provided with a Car Rider Tag to hang from your rearview mirror. Please email the building secretary, Ann-Marie Vandeloo at amv@lcusd9.org. I need you to communicate to her your: child(ren)'s name, grade, and teacher. If you have multiple students attending LES, list all of them. We will give the Car Rider Tag to the eldest student here. If you can communicate that to her by this Thursday, we will be able to distribute those tags to your student(s) on Friday and Monday.
There will be an example Car Rider Tag attached to the tag that you will receive. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions in regards to this process. Thank you.
Welcome Back Note from Nurse Tracie
Materials/Textbook pickup for all 2nd semester-only classes takes place today from 12:00-4:00 today. Students may also drop off materials from their first semester classes during this time period as well. This pick-up time is especially important for students who are remote learners for 3rd quarter, or who attend classes on 'B' days.
Students who are enrolled in the following classes should be picking up materials today:
Driver Ed
Health
Civics
Psychology
Geography
World History
Art History
Greek Mythology
CP English
Art 3
High school students who wish to make a schedule change must have a parent note. No note not changes, phone calls will not be allowed per handbook. Changes will only be allowed Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Happy New Year!
Attention all 6th-12th students who have a 2nd semester-only class:
Pick up of supplies/materials for your new class will be on Monday, January 4th, from 12:00-4:00 in the HS gym. Please enter through the rear (South) entrance of the gymnasium for materials.
Thanks to all of you who returned your 1st semester-only class materials! We are still missing materials/textbooks from some of our students who had 1st semester-only classes. It is critical that these items be returned to ensure that all students have the materials they need to begin their 2nd semester classes. If you still need to return items to us, you may bring them to the office on Monday morning, or bring them with you when you come to pick up the materials for your 2nd semester class from 12:00-4:00.
Thank you for your help!!
Dear LCUSD9 Families and Staff,
While this school year has been a challenge, I hope you have many things for which you are thankful this holiday season. I am personally grateful for:
Our D9 students who have demonstrated positive attitudes as they navigate new learning models and protocols,
Our D9 parents who have changed their schedules and work in partnership with staff,
Our teachers, certified staff, and support staff for their extra efforts and willingness to adapt lessons and job responsibilities,
Nurse Tracie who works many hours to help students and families stay well,
Our custodial and building staff for keeping buildings clean, sanitized, and safe,
Our technology department who ensure tools are available for remote learning,
Our board of education for their leadership, and
Our community who supports public education and our schools.
This has been a challenging year for everyone. When faced with challenges and crises, it is more important than ever to share gratitude and express thanks. I encourage you to reach out to someone in D9 to share your gratitude. It could be a teacher, a staff member, or a fellow parent who supports or inspires you. By doing so we will not only continue to get through this together, but we will help one another thrive in the face of this year’s challenges.
Please be safe over this holiday season. We can't wait to have the students return to campus on Tuesday 01/05/21!
