24 more days until Christmas
Fun fact:
Christmas decorating sends nearly 15,000 people to the ER
If you've ever watched Clark Griswold decorate his house in Christmas Vacation, that probably doesn't come as much of a surprise. In fact, the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 14,700 people visit hospital emergency rooms each November and December from holiday-related decorating accidents. So please, be careful when you're decking your halls.
Attention Staff: Stop by the library to grab a sweet treat and enter in the December giveaway.

Judging by the snowflakes, wind, and chilliness outside it seems that winter is finally upon us. Parents, make sure that you are dressing your students warmly. We will continue to have the the students go outside for recess as long as the temperature allows. The cutoff temperature for us to go outside is 25 degrees with the wind chill factor per our district handbook. Make sure that your students come to school prepared with: coat, hat, gloves, scarf, earmuffs, and a layer of clothing under their regular clothes. Thank you!

Greetings Students, Families, Faculty & Staff of LCUSD9!
The year of 2020 has presented us with many obstacles, difficulties, complexities, and audibles in the way that we conduct and live our every day lives. But you all have adapted and rolled with the punches. The LCUSD9 Administrative Team (Mr. Keeney, Mr. Teasley, & Mr. Foster) would just like to express how much we are truly thankful for you all during this holiday season! Everyone has worked tremendously hard for the past four months. You deserve this Thanksgiving break. Make sure that you enjoy your families and your time off. But continue to remain safe and be diligent about healthy practices. We have the final three weeks of the semester to complete upon our return next week. The Admin team is truly thankful for everyone that walks through the doors of LES, LJHS, & LHS! See you next week. Happy Thanksgiving!

Due to the recent state wide and local area Covid events, we will be holding at our current student phase-in-plan. We will be adding a few more at-risk/failing students on Monday. We feel that it is not feasible to add the full amount of students scheduled on November 23 as planned. We will also not bring back all students scheduled to return on December 7th. We will maintain the current A/B 50% model, with the possibility of reducing student numbers and/or going full remote if needed. We will be monitoring our local Covid numbers and evaluate if we need to change plans at any time. Please remain flexible as we try to balance student needs and local Covid events. More information will be available online soon or feel free to contact your building principal. We hope to return to our original plans very soon.
