Congratulations to Blake Goetter for winning the FFA section 22 proficiency award in the SOE category: Manufacturing, Engineering, and Trades. Blake's project is based on the work he does on his race car. Blake keeps accurate records on all the work he does and hopes to apply his experience to his future career. Blake will move on to the District competition in March! Good luck Blake and we are so proud of you!

Cancer Night is Tuesday, February 11th during the high school boys basketball game. Game starts at 6pm. There will be raffle baskets and a bake sale during the game. All proceeds will benefit an individual in our community who is battling cancer. Wear your cancer night shirts or pink next Tuesday to show your support.
I want to take a second and recognize our junior high boys basketball team, junior high girls basketball team, cheerleading team and their coaches for their seasons this year. Our girls won 8 games and placed 2nd in the St Libory Tournament and our boys finished 14-12 which gave them a winning season and they played in the Regional Championship for the 2nd time in 3 years. These teams all improved by leaps and bounds throughout the year, which is what we want to see in our athletes, growth throughout the season. We may not have ended our seasons with victories but both teams played hard and gave their best effort against 2 very good teams in Aviston and Shiloh. It was great to see the large crowd that came out this past Friday as we hosted the boys regional championship and our students in the "Hound Pound" did an amazing job. Thank you to our coaches Krista Bass, Abigail Reinneck, Elizabeth Sandy, John Seely and Stu McAllister for all of their hard work and time they put in to our programs, "Be the Change"!

Our Greyhounds won their Regional game on Tuesday night 56-44 over Maryville Christian. They will now play the Shiloh Wildcats on Friday night at 6:00 at home for the Regional Championship and a chance to advance to the class M state tournament. Please come out and support the Greyhounds!!!!!

Lebanon alumni Jesse Essenpreis come in and talk to our junior high boys basketball team as they get ready for the regional this week. Coach Essenpreis has been very successful as a coach in Aviston and now at West Junior High, but it isn't just the wins and state championship that makes him successful but also the impact and guidance he has on his players as he prepares them to be good students and citizens.
He spoke to the players about what it means to wear Lebanon on their jerseys and told them what it means to be proud to wear it. Also he told then to think about who they play for, is it a coach, is it a parent, is it a grandmother or neighbor etc...what drives them to work hard and be the best that they can be at everything.
Thank you coach Essenpreis for coming in and taking the time to teach these young players about more than just basketball. Maybe one day they will give back to the school as you have and maybe they will even bleed purple and white like you do.

Congratulations to our high school girls bowling team for winning the Cahokia Conference Illinois Division Tournament Championship today and to Neela Missey for winning the individual championship! Karsyn Bertelsman placed 4th individually earning All-Conference honors also.
On the boy's side, our Greyhounds finished 2nd as a team behind Wesclin and Aaron Suydam finished 3rd as an individual making the All-Conference Team.
